Frequently asked questions
Everything about membership, ownership, investing, and volunteering.
What's the free year of travel?
Invest $500 or more and you'll get a full year of free travel on First Jet, starting when we begin commercial flights. It's our thank-you to the people who help get this airline off the ground.
The perk applies to completed investments of $500 or more. Details such as how bookings, seat availability, taxes and fees work will be set out in the offering documents. Building an airline takes time and there's no guarantee it will launch, so the year of free travel only begins once commercial flights do.
What do I get as a member?
Low fares, member boarding, and a share of the airline you fly. The more you fly, the more you earn, and the more of it belongs to you. Membership benefits are proposed and subject to the final structure.
How does ownership and voting work?
The proposed governance is simple: no matter the investment size, everyone has one vote. For the people, by the people, because of the people. Final governance is subject to the cooperative structure and legal review.
How do I invest?
Our offering is open. On the Invest page, choose an amount (the minimum is $45), add your name and email, and click Pay to go straight to secure checkout.
Checkout is where you verify your identity, review and sign your investment agreement, and pay. We also email you your payment link in case you want to finish later, and we'll confirm once your investment is complete.
What's the minimum and maximum I can invest?
The minimum investment is $45, and you can invest up to $25,000 online.
Federal securities law also limits how much non-accredited investors can put into crowdfunding offerings over 12 months, based on income and net worth. Those limits are checked during checkout. Planning to invest more than $25,000? Email us and we'll reach out when the accredited investor process opens.
I pledged before. Is my pledge an investment?
Not yet. Pledges were non-binding indications of interest, and no money was collected. To invest, complete the form on the Invest page. Using the same email address you pledged with helps us connect your records.
Is this a donation?
No, it's an investment. In exchange for your money you receive a SAFE (Simple Agreement for Future Equity): a contract that gives you the right to receive equity in First Jet Airways in the future, on the terms set out in the agreement.
That difference matters:
- It isn't a charitable gift, so it isn't treated like a tax-deductible donation.
- You take on investment risk. As with any early-stage company, you could lose some or all of what you put in.
- You get real contractual rights as an investor, set out in your SAFE, that a donor wouldn't have.
If everyone gets one vote no matter what, why would I invest more than the minimum?
Your voice and your financial stake are two separate things.
- Your voice: governance is proposed as one member, one vote. No one can buy extra control; every member has an equal say whatever they invest.
- Your stake: the equity your SAFE can convert into generally scales with how much you invest, and so does any financial upside if First Jet Airways succeeds.
Investing more doesn't buy a bigger voice; it grows your stake in the company you're helping build. Exactly how your SAFE converts is set out in your investment agreement, so read it for the details of your own stake.
What happened to buying Spirit?
In June we walked away from purchasing Spirit and decided to do something even more revolutionary: build a new airline from the ground up, by and for the people who will fly it.
How do I volunteer?
